A proud member of

Hunningley

In September 2024 are we opened Newstead Hunningley – a satellite provision of Newstead.

Newstead Hunningley is a 15 place provision for children with communication and interaction needs (C&I) alongside Social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). We are a specialist provision so all children who are placed with us have an EHCP and are placed through consultation with the Local Authority (LA).

A key focus of our offer at Hunningley is relationships- relationships that provide a secure base and nurture-based environment. We have high adult to child ratios to ensure that all children receive the bespoke educational offer that they need as well as dedicated time with adults on a one to one/ small group/ whole class basis so that they feel listened to, understood and heard. Our children are all unique and our aim is to ensure that each and every one of them achieves their full potential with us.

Our class teams work closely together to share and celebrate ways of working and success throughout the school day. We understand the importance of noticing- noticing any small sign a child shows us and any insight we may gain into what works for them and how we can use this to provide a strong educational offer that is built around the individual child.

At Newstead Hunningley a key feature that must be present is the ability to ‘think outside the box’ and push our own thinking in order to create successful learning experiences.

We are a small setting and utilise our spaces well by providing 2 sensory rooms, a break out space for one of the classrooms and an outdoor space also. We tailor the use of spaces to individual children’s interests and needs e.g. some children enjoy learning and completing activities outside, some children prefer a small, dedicated space in the classroom. This means that our provision, like all educational settings is constantly evolving to respond to new and emergent needs.

We are incredibly proud of all our children and what we have achieved in such a short space of time and are excited to look towards the future and how the setting, and more importantly the children will develop even further.

The photographs around this page illustrate our journey so far.
