Newstead Wells Lane is a 20 place provision for children with communication and interaction needs (C&I). We are a specialist provision so all children who are placed with us have an EHCP and are placed through consultation with the Local Authority (LA).
Our approach is centred around understanding each child as an individual and creating meaningful opportunities for learning through exploration, play, and engagement. Drawing on the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and Early Years goals, we recognise that children learn best when they feel safe, motivated, and actively
involved in their environment.
Communication is at the heart of everything we do. We support pupils to develop their individual modes of communication through intensive interaction, sensory experiences, symbols, gestures, objects of reference, visual supports, and emerging language. By building positive relationships and responding to each child’s communication attempts, we help them find their voice and connect with the world around them.
Through carefully planned sensory play, structured learning opportunities, and real-life experiences, we encourage curiosity, confidence, and independence. Our skilled staff work closely with families and professionals to ensure every child is supported to achieve their full potential, developing the skills they need for learning, social interaction, and everyday life.
At Newstead Wells Lane, we celebrate every step of progress and believe that meaningful engagement, effective communication, and growing independence lay the foundations for lifelong success.
