It is my honour to welcome you to Newstead Academy! We officially opened our doors in September 2023 to our very first cohort of children. At Newstead, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every student can Thrive and truly be the very Best that they can be.
Our dedicated and experienced staff work closely with students, parents, and professionals to ensure that individualised support is provided to meet the specific needs of students with communication and interaction difficulties. Staff receive regular training to stay up-to-date with the latest strategies and approaches.
We have a range of specialist resources and equipment to facilitate the needs of each of our children and are able to deliver bespoke learning where needed. This includes assistive technology, communication aids, visual supports, and sensory resources to enhance learning experiences.
Our teachers utilise inclusive teaching strategies that promote active participation and engagement for all students. Differentiation techniques are employed to adapt teaching methods, materials, and assessments to meet students’ diverse needs. We have developed our own bespoke curriculum which is tailor made to accommodate the needs of the children we serve; it is adaptable and will ensure that all children are given opportunities to access all areas of learning at their own levels.
We believe in the power of collaboration between parents, teachers, and relevant professionals. We maintain open lines of communication, conduct regular meetings, and encourage parental involvement in decision-making regarding their child’s education.
Our school works closely with external agencies and specialists, such as speech and language therapists and occupational therapists, to provide additional support as needed. This collaborative approach aims to address communication and interaction difficulties comprehensively.
